Lionel Messi not nominated for Ballon d'Or for first time in 17 years

 

Paris Saint Germain football club of France star Lionel Andres Messi's name has been omitted from the list of the players that will be fighting for the Ballon D'or award for 2022.

The former Barcelona football club star endured a tough spell at Paris Saint Germain football club last season, and he managed to score few goals in the league despite the fact that he played a lot of matches for the club in French Ligue 1.

The 35 years old played the total number of 26 matches for Paris Saint Germain football club in the French Ligue 1, and he scored just 6 League goals.

Despite the fact that Lionel Messi had a tough spell at the beginning of last season, he was given the 2021 Ballon D'or award, and that helped him to win it for the record 7th time.

Lionel Messi is currently holding the 2021 Ballon D'or award, but his name has been omitted from the list of the 30 outstanding players who will be fighting for the prestigious award.

The organizers of the 2022 Ballon D'or award released the names of 30 players who will be competing for the prestigious award on Friday evening, and Lionel Andres Messi's name was not in the list.

With the omission of Lionel Andres Messi's name, it means he hasn't been included on the Ballon D'or 30-man shortlist for the first time since 2005.
