Milan clash: Napoli without Osimhen big blow, says coach Spalletti

Following the Nigerian forward's injury, Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti acknowledged it would be a major loss to be without Victor Osimhen.

"Osimhen's injury will prevent him from playing in Napoli's Sunday home game against AC Milan."

According to reports, "the 24-year-old complained of abductor strain, which was later verified by tests."

"After his return from overseas service this week, Osimhen has skipped training."

According to PUNCH, Recently, "he participated in both legs of Nigeria's qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau."

In a press conference on Saturday, "coach Spalletti discussed the upcoming first game after the break for international play. Without their talisman Osimhen, they will have to continue." Source stated.

According to him, "We'll be playing Milan in three games soon. Osimhen's absence is a major loss, but Giovanni Simeone has already shown himself. The coach stated in an interview that was posted on the team's website, "He's a striker who can utilize his head or his feet."

PUNCH reported that, "It's accurate. The squad has been able to make up for Victor's absence and prevail when we are without him. We always play with the Napoli mentality, and players like Cholito have been instrumental this season."

But remaining upbeat, "the coach insisted that his team could handle the challenge without Osimhen."

"As a result of everyone giving their all this year and our strong play, even against elite competition, this squad can withstand anyone's absence." Source added.
