Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has been forced to be patient during his first season as a Chelsea player.
However, the 24-year-old’s now getting a look-in with his first three appearances for the Blues in the last couple of weeks.
Djordje Petrovic has slotted into the role as Chelsea’s second-choice goalkeeper this term as cover for Robert Sanchez, but the latter’s recent injury has opened the door.
The Serbian gloveman has played in the last two Premier League matches. He saved a penalty in the shootout as Chelsea beat Newcastle United on penalties last night in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, too.
He’s a relative unknown to English audiences following his arrival from the MLS, but he’s slowly showing everyone at Stamford Bridge his qualities in-between the sticks.
Blues delighted
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported via his social media on Wednesday that Petrovic is in the good books at Chelsea.
Romano wrote on X: “Chelsea are also very happy with Djorjde Petrovic.”

It’s great news to hear as Blues supporters have seen very little of a player that’s mainly been working behind the scenes.
Now, the 6ft 4in goalkeeper is in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting line-up and looking to impress everyone.
Chelsea happy with Djordje Petrovic
Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has previously been on record to voice his admiration for Petrovic. Speaking via Chelsea’s YouTube channel this month, Pochettino described Petrovic as a player with “huge potential”.
You could argue that a club Chelsea’s size needs first-team goalkeepers with a lot more experience and know-how, but there’s two interesting options vying for the No 1 position this season in West London.
We’re happy to find out in the next few week whether or not Petrovic is at the level required to start every game.
