Brighton and Wolves battled to a lackluster 0-0 draw at the Amex Stadium, marking Roberto de Zerbi’s side's second consecutive goalless stalemate in the Premier League. Wolves' three-game winning streak came to an end, surprising both teams as their previous three head-to-head encounters yielded an impressive 16 goals.
The first half witnessed scarce opportunities and minimal quality. Facundo Buonanotte squandered Brighton’s best chance after 12 minutes, mistiming a diving header that was cleared off the line by Tommy Doyle. Wolves' high-pressing tactics disrupted Brighton's passing rhythm, with Pedro Neto's counter-attack on 22 minutes providing a glimpse of danger.
Tempers flared on the pitch and in the dugout just before halftime as Billy Gilmour clashed with Craig Dawson and Matheus Cunha. The second half kicked off with Neto creating trouble again, setting up Cunha for Wolves' best chance, but the Brazilian's efforts were thwarted by Jason Steele.
As the game opened up, both teams had moments of excitement, including a tense situation for Wanderers’ captain Max Kilman, who slid the ball against his own post. However, the real threat to the goals emerged in the 80th minute when Mario Lemina outpaced Jan-Paul van Hecke, but his shot was saved by Steele.
Gary O’Neill’s Wolves extended their unbeaten run to six in all competitions but missed the opportunity to level points with Brighton, remaining in 11th place. Brighton, positioned 7th in the league, sits eight points adrift of the European places.
